The Panther 5000 WS is a light, ruggedized laptop. It is great choice for mobile workers requiring powerful performance, security, and durability in a semi-rugged laptop. The system comes with Intel's 2.1 GHz Core™ 2 Duo Processor and 160GB hard disk drive. This semi-rugged laptop's standard configuration includes a 15.4" WXGA wide-screen display, SmartCard slot, integrated wireless LAN, 56K modem, DVD/RW drive, SmartCard, and TPM security. Optional features include a web camera, 3G antenna, Bluetooth module, and encrypted hard drive for supreme data security.The Panther 5000 WS has many ruggedized features, including foam rubber protection around the hard disk and display screen to help protect the system from vibration and drops. This semi-rugged laptop has a magnesium top and bottom case that is 20 times stronger than plastic, offering higher survival rate after drops and bumps. The laptop’s moisture-resistant design also protects the internal components from accidental splashes and spills. The Panther 5000 WS has been field-tested for vibration and drops against the Mil Spec 810F standards. It has advanced features such as an optical disk lock which prevents accidental ejections from drops and vibrations; an anti-shock mounted hard disk drive, utilizing a flexible cable design to absorb shock and vibration preventing data loss; and double protection smart-circuitry design has been implemented in the battery to prevent damage from overheating or voltage surges.
