The GoBook MR-1 fully rugged UMPC (Ultra Mobile Personal Computer) from General Dynamics Itronix is a full blown rugged computer that runs Windows® Vista in a compact 5"x 7" shell. Weighing only 2lbs, the GoBook MR-1 has a powerful Intel® Core Solo™ processor, up to a 6-hour battery and a 5.6" WSVGA sunlight viewable DynaVue® display.DynaVue touchscreen display technology provides better outdoor viewability than 1,000 NIT alternatives without sacrificing battery life or processing performance. DynaVue is also the only PC touchscreen display technology which meets MIL-STD 3009, the U.S. military's high-ambient light viewability specification for the primary flight displays and mission avionics controls displays for aircraft.
The GD-Itronix GoBook MR-1 is a fully rugged UMPC (MIL-STD-810F, IP54) which means it has a shock-mounted hard drive, magnesium alloy casing and is fully sealed against the outside elements such as dust, water, and moisture. This rugged ultra mobile personal computer also has a solid state hard drive option which largely eliminates seek time, latency, and other electro-mechanical delays and failures associated with a conventional hard disk drive. Solid State drives are a necessity in some applications due to their ability to withstand extreme vibrations.
