The GD2000 fully rugged UMPC (Ultra-Mobile Personal Computer) from General Dynamics Itronix is a powerful, pocket-sized rugged computer designed to deliver outstanding portability and durability. It measures only 1.8" x 6.6" x 4.8" and weighs as little as 2.4 pounds. It is designed for the toughest users and tested to military standards. The GD2000 is an ideal rugged UMPC for military personnel, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, and utility workers.The GD2000 is built for demanding environments and can withstand accidental drops, extreme temperatures, heavy vibrations, blowing rain, sand and dust, humidity, altitude, acoustic noise, fungus, direct sunlight, and many other conditions. The fully-rugged GD2000 can also handle the extremes of the desert heat and arctic winters. It is Rated IP54 for dust and water intrusion and meets or exceeds MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F, UL1604 and is compliant with the daylight visibility requirements of MIL-STD-3009 specifications.
The General Dynamics Itronix GD2000 rugged UMPC is powered by an Intel® Celeron® Processor that can leverage multi-threaded applications. It features a 64GB SATA solid state drive, 2GB DDRIII RAM, a Lithium-Ion, hot swappable battery pack that allows the user to replace the battery without system interruption, and a 5.6-inch DynaVue® sunlight-readable display with touchscreen. DynaVue touchscreen display technology provides better outdoor viewability than 1,000 NIT alternatives without sacrificing battery life or processing performance.
The GD2000 offers multiple wireless technologies to mobile users connected and increase productivity. Options include WWAN, WLAN, 802.11a/b/g/n, PAN, and Bluetooth®. An integrated Quadrafilar-helix GPS antenna allows for a broader range of satellite coverage in the field, and when combined with the SIRFstar III GPS, the GD2000 delivers superior mapping and navigation results. For heavy communication requirements, the GD2000 can run up to 3 RF modems and a GPS receiver at the same time.
Security features on the GD2000 include a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 security chip, an integrated fingerprint reader, BIOS-level passwords, stealth mode keyboard and display settings for secure environments, and an optional Smartcard.
For customized computing requirements, the GD2000 has an optional expansion "slice" architecture, offering the ability to easily add peripherals to support in-field applications. The slice modules offer additional I/O ports such as USBs, PC card, Ethernet, or a mini-office dock, without sacrificing the durability of the GD2000.
