The semi-rugged classification refers to the fact that the Panasonic Toughbook 52 is not sealed against the outdoor elements.
The Panasonic Tough book 52 (CF-52) just went through an upgrade and now comes standard with a faster 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a larger 160GB hard drive, and a DVD Multi Drive. One popular upgrade option is the System Bundle which includes an even faster 2.4GHz processor, higher resolution WUXGA display, 512MB VRAM and Bluetooth. Other upgrade options include a smart card reader, fingerprint reader, integrated Gobi broadband wireless for use with all wireless networks worldwide.
Also, now you can upgrade your Toughbook 52 to a 13.3" 1024/768 XGA Sunlight-Viewable 1000 nit Touchscreen for extra flexibility. The touchscreen upgrade also includes an adjustable dual overhead keyboard light and an integrated stylus holder.
