The Panther 4000 MD is a light, ruggedized laptop with desktop performance. If you are interested in a powerful notebook that is rugged enough for most applications, then look no further. The system comes with Intel's Core™ 2 Duo Processor and 160GB hard disk drive. This semi-rugged notebook's standard configuration includes a 14.1" WXGA display, fingerprint reader, SmartCard slot, integrated wireless LAN, 56K modem, DVD/RW drive, and LED lighted keyboard.Ruggedized features include a spill resistant keyboard, foam rubber protection around the hard disk and military-compliant magnesium casing behind the 14.1" display screen to help protect the system from vibration and drop. This semi-rugged laptop has been field-tested for vibration and drops against the Mil Spec 810G standards and also has advanced features such as an optical disk lock which prevents accidental ejections from drops and vibrations. Its shock-mounted hard drive utilizes a flexible cable design to absorb shock and vibration preventing data loss, and double protection smart-circuitry design has been implemented in the battery to prevent damage from overheating or voltage surges.
