The Toughbook 74 is Panasonic’s most rugged laptop in the semi rugged class. It is one step down from the fully rugged family and can be mounted in a vehicle or used out in the field. It is classified as semi-rugged since it is not fully sealed against the outdoor elements. The Panasonic Toughbook 74 is unique in the semi-rugged category as it comes standard with an outdoor viewable display that is also a touchscreen. This computer is perfect if you need something a little more rugged than the average laptop, but do not plan on computing in a downpour or a raging dust storm any time soon. The outdoor viewable screen allows you to use the Panasonic Toughbook 74 out in the bright sunlight and still be able to view your screen. The touchscreen allows for easy one-handed screen navigation even while in a vehicle. The Panasonic Toughbook 74 also comes with a spill proof keyboard, DVD multi drive and has a battery that can last up to 8 hours.Since the Panasonic Toughbook 74 can be mounted in a vehicle, it can also be classified as a vehicle rugged computer. Some of the features that make the Panasonic Toughbook 74 semi rugged or vehicle rugged is its magnesium alloy case protecting the computer from bumps and bangs, shock mounted hard drive protecting your data while you are driving on bumpy roads and a spill proof keyboard in case some of your morning coffee spills on your computer.
