Group Mobile Adds Its First Semi Rugged Tablet PC to Their Product Offering; The Motion Computing F5.
PHOENIX, AZ – June 3, 2008 – Group Mobile, a premier provider of rugged, mobile and field-use computing products, announced today it will offer the latest technology from Motion Computing®, targeted to mobile workers across field service, manufacturing, government and construction industries. Under the agreement, Group Mobile will offer the Motion™ F5, the company’s latest tablet PC. The F5, a new entrant into the tablet PC market, is a balance between commercial-grade devices and fully-rugged PCs that often have costly features only required in some field applications.
Group Mobile prides itself in only carrying the top/leading brands in the rugged computer industry. The Motion F5 will be the first semi-rugged tablet pc to be added to the groupmobile.com website and line card. “Motion Computing’s new F5 semi-rugged slate PC addresses the unique challenges of the mobile workforce and is the perfect addition to our product offerings. This newest addition to our offering is representative of Group Mobile’s commitment to helping our customers solve their biggest challenges and improve productivity across their mobile workforces,” said Richard Lawson, President, Group Mobile.
Motion’s F5 is designed to withstand the top three causes of notebook damage, which continue to be drops, liquid spills and objects being dropped onto notebooks. Durable enough to withstand exposure to these elements, the F5 is the first semi-rugged mobile computing device to focus on the complete solution for mobile professionals, including the mobile platform, software, wireless capabilities, and integrated data capture and services.
The F5 addresses issues encountered by mobile work forces, and by offering the F5 Group Mobile is seeking to help its customers reduce the number of devices technicians carry, improve workflow, reduce data collection errors and ensure users can communicate with host systems and each other, in the field or in an office. The F5 design enables users to be more productive, including benefits such as:
IP54 compliance to withstand exposure to dust and moisture
Field-ready slate design that includes a magnesium frame, View Anywhere® outdoor display, built-in handle, and easily cleaned protective covering
Shock mounted hard drive and combined accelerometer to detect drops and shocks in order to minimize the possibility of data loss
Optional solid state drive
Fully-integrated technologies to improve workflow and increase productivity: digital camera, RFID and bar code scanner
Embedded Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) for continuous data access away from the office
Three year, “field-ready” warranty covering damage from short drops (approx. 30 inches), and ordinary course exposure to rain and dust.
“Motion is pleased to add Group Mobile, a leading provider of rugged computing solutions, as its latest reseller of the F5,” said Mike Stinson, Motion vice president of marketing. “With the F5, Group Mobile is broadening its offering to include a semi-rugged device that can help improve the efficiency of mobile users, without the often high price tag associated with fully rugged devices.”
Group Mobile will begin shipping the F5 in May 2008. Pricing will range from $2,699 - $4,000, depending on the configuration.
